Pere Baguena

I have spent most of my life, except for a few years, when I lived in a small town in Berguedà: Vallcebre.
The rural environment and my passion for the plant world push me to explore the plastic possibilities of wood; with beginnings dedicated to making crafts that end up in sculptural pieces.
In 2011, my sculptural work was consolidated in my return to the sea, this time in Cabrera de Mar, where I currently reside.
In 2012 I studied wood carving at the Luis Barbosa School of Carving and Sculpture where I perfected the technique to be able to work in my workshop today.
In 2016 I continued to train with Pepe Llorente, Spanish champion of chainsaw sculpture Pepe Llorente, improving the work of large format pieces.
After these years of work, I find my own sculptural style, which culminates in 2017 with my first solo exhibition where I present my collection of pieces “Organic Nerves”.

A NEW PRINCIPLE
The first exhibition of “Organic Nerves” will be followed by several group exhibitions.
In October I won the second prize in the ArTardor Sea Prize competition.
In December I enter the Manel Batlle sculpture competition from Granollers, obtaining a special mention from the jury, which gives me the opportunity to exhibit the piece presented at the Can Mario museum of the Vila Casas Foundation, in Palafrugell, where everything will be exhibited in 2018.
Currently I continue to enjoy wood and explore new forms that show the inner beauty of trees, which is accentuated when the wood is worked with warmth. It is then that we can appreciate its curves, colors, light… of an interior full of emotions and life.
